Public Relations (PR) is the corporate practice of interacting with the public, and also with other Corporations in ways not covered by Marketing, Sales, Procurement and Holding.
The responsibilities of PR are executed by a Corporation's Public Relations Department (PRD, PR Department or some similar designation such as Office of Public Relations).
The broad role of PR within a Corporation is to influence public (and private) opinion to be more favourably inclined towards the Corporation or the Corporation's interests, in support of or in spite of the actions of the Corporation itself. In the 21st Century this is primarily achieved through a strong understanding of behavioural psychology and media influence.
